Ora-Igbomina Youths Dismiss APC Claims, Reaffirm Support for Governor Adeleke’s Re-election

Image
The attention of Ora-Igbomina youths has been drawn to the statement credited to the APC in Ifedayo. While ordinarily we would not have dignified a statement so bereft of substance with a response, the need to correct the false impressions it may have created among unsuspecting members of the public has compelled us to react. In Ifedayo, over 90% of indigenes and residents stand firmly with Governor Adeleke, and that support continues to grow organically by the day, owing to the Governor’s exceptional leadership, people-oriented policies, and the unprecedented dividends of democracy being delivered across the local government. One of the cardinal campaign promises of Governor Adeleke was to restore our water supply and rehabilitate our long-neglected roads, and the Governor has demonstrated undiluted commitment to fulfilling those promises. Rather than appreciating these remarkable interventions, the Ifedayo APC appears embittered that what their party failed to accomplish ...

Osun Youth Movement Urges Tinubu to Release Withheld Local Government Allocation Funds

Image
The Osun Youth Movement has raised serious concerns over the continuous withholding of Local Government (LG) allocation funds by the Federal Government, calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently intervene and ensure their immediate release. In a press statement signed by the group’s Public Relations Officer, Comrade Adebayo Gbenga, the youth movement described the situation as a major setback to grassroots development in Osun State and across the country.  The statement noted that the non-release of LG allocations has paralyzed several developmental projects, leaving many communities without essential infrastructure, healthcare facilities, and educational services. “Local governments are the closest tier of government to the people. By starving them of funds, communities are left in stagnation and citizens are denied basic services,” the statement read. Osun State, renowned for its cultural heritage and historical importance, has also been severely affected by ...

A Call to Action, Saving Osun PDP from the Brink of Disaster - By Adedapo Taiwo Emmanuel

Image
I had penned a glowing tribute to Governor Ademola Adeleke immediately after the former caretaker Chairmen, began submitting their resignation letters. My accolades were not motivated by any affinity or animosity towards the local government chairmen, but rather by the governor's exemplary respect for the tenets of democracy. The governor took swift and decisive action, adhering to the Supreme Court's ruling on local government financial autonomy, demonstrating his undiluted commitment to democratic principles. In that article, while I lauded the governor for his proactive measures in upholding democracy, I cautioned against the imposition of chairmanship aspirants on the party. This warning was prompted by my foresight that the majority of outgoing caretaker chairmen would seek to recontest unopposed, a move that could spell doom for the PDP in Osun State. After that article, the OSSIEC's chairman, Barrister Hashim, released the timetable for the 2025 local gov...
